New Warden at Macon State Prison
Timothy Sales Reassigned
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the reassignment of Timothy Sales to Warden at Macon State Prison (SP), effective July 1, 2023. As Warden, Sales will be responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,769 male offenders.
"Sales has been a dedicated and valuable staff member since beginning his career," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that he will continue to uphold the GDC mission as he takes on his new role at Macon SP."
Sales began his career with the Department in 1998 as a Correctional Officer at Macon SP. In 2003, he was promoted to Sergeant at Dooly SP and in 2006 to Lieutenant at Rutledge SP. Sales returned to Macon SP in 2013 to serve as Chief of Security. In 2015, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Macon SP, and in 2017 he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Autry SP. In 2018, he was reassigned to Deputy Warden at Macon SP and in 2022, he was promoted to Special Assistant to the Warden at Dooly SP. In March 2023, he was promoted to Warden at Dooly SP, where he currently serves.
Sales earned an Associate in Law Enforcement and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Sergeant's Academy, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, Warden's Pre-Command, and National Institute of Corrections Auditor Training.
