Joshua Jones Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Joshua Jones to Warden at Hays State Prison (SP), effective July 1, 2023. As Warden, Jones will be responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,076 male offenders.

"Jones has been a dedicated employee while working his way up through the ranks," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that his leadership and correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and offenders at Hays SP."

Jones began his career with the department in 2007 as a Correctional Officer (CO) at Walker SP and also assisted as a CO at the Special Management Unit. In 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant at Hays SP.  During his tenure at Hays SP, he was promoted through the ranks of Lieutenant, Unit Manager, and Deputy Warden of Security, where he currently serves.

His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, and Warden's Pre Command.
