New Deputy Warden of Administration at Burruss Correctional Training Center

Lena Hawkins Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Lena Hawkins to Deputy Warden of Administration at Burruss Correctional Training Center (CTC) effective December 16, 2022. As Deputy Warden of Administration, Hawkins will be responsible for overseeing the business office, property/supply operations and food service departments at the facility, which houses approximately 800 medium-security male offenders.
“Hawkins has been an asset to the department while working her way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We look forward to seeing her excel in her new position at Burruss CTC.”
Hawkins began her career with the GDC in 2012 as a Correctional Officer at Dodge State Prison (SP). In 2013, she was promoted to Finance Clerk at Washington SP and in 2014, she transferred in the same position to Macon Transitional Center (TC). She was promoted to Financial Operations (Ops) Generalist 1 at Macon TC in 2018, and in 2019 she was promoted to Financial Ops Generalist 3 in the Business Management Unit at State Offices South. In 2021, she was promoted to Business Support Analyst 1 in the North Region Processing Center, and in the same year transferred to Macon TC as the Administrative Assistant Supervisor, where she currently serves.
Hawkins received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Middle Georgia State University. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Introductory Governmental Accounting Part I, Part II, and Intermediate Governmental Accounting.
