New Warden at Coastal State Prison

Aaron Pineiro Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Aaron Pineiro to Warden at Coastal State Prison (SP), effective January 1, 2022. As Warden, Pineiro will be responsible for overseeing approximately 270 staff members and 1,870 medium security male offenders at the facility.
“Pineiro has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout his tenure with the agency,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident his vast correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and offenders at Coastal SP.”
Pineiro began his career with the department in 2007 as Correctional Officer at Valdosta SP. In 2008, he transferred to the Southwest Probation Detention Center as the ID and Intake Officer, until its closure in 2010. He then returned to Valdosta SP as a Counselor, and in 2015, he was promoted to Chief Counselor. In 2016, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Georgia SP, and in 2019, he was reassigned to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Valdosta SP, where he currently serves.
Pineiro’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
