Vicki Winkfield Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Vicki Winkfield to Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility, effective June 15, 2021. As Warden, Winkfield will be responsible for overseeing 85 staff at the facility and approximately 415 female offenders.

“Winkfield has been an outstanding leader in each position she has held with the agency,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “Her training and experience will serve her well in her new role as Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility.”

Winkfield began her career with the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Metro State Prison and was promoted to Sergeant in 2011.  In 2013, she was promoted to Chief of Security at Clayton Transitional Center, and to Training Captain with the Office of Professional Development in 2014.  In 2017, she was promoted to Unit Manager at Metro Reentry Facility, and to Assistant Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center in 2019.  In 2020, she transferred to Emanuel Women’s Facility as Deputy Warden of Security, where she currently serves. 

Winkfield earned an Associate of Criminal Justice degree from Phoenix University.  She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program, Advanced Management Training, Corrections Leadership Institute, Pre-Command College, POST Instructor Training, CERT Training, and Certified Firearms Instructor.
