FORSYTH, Ga. – The execution of condemned murderer Scotty Garnell Morrow scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson was carried out on May 2, 2019, at 9:38 pm in accordance with state law. Morrow accepted a final prayer and recorded a final statement. Morrow was sentenced to death in 1999 for the murder of Tonya Rochelle Woods and Barbara Ann Young.

There have been 71 men and one woman executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976. If executed, Morrow will be the 50th inmate put to death by lethal injection. There are presently 49 men under death sentence in Georgia.
