New Warden at Ware State Prison

Jeff Coleman Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Jeff Coleman to Warden at Ware State Prison, effective October 1, 2018. As Warden, Coleman will be responsible for overseeing 397 staff members and 1,546 close security male offenders.
“Jeff has been a dedicated employee for two decades and has exceled at every position he has held within the department,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozer. “His experience and leadership skills will be a great asset to the staff and offenders at Ware State Prison.”
Coleman began his career with the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Johnson State Prison. During his tenure, he also served as Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 1999, he became a Special Investigator for the Department of Juvenile Justice, and then returned to GDC in 2003, as a Transport Officer for Johnson State Prison. Coleman was promoted to Chief of Security at Smith State Prison in 2006 and to Deputy Warden of Security and Care & Treatment at Montgomery State Prison in 2010. Coleman was promoted to Superintendent at Emanuel Probation Detention Center, in 2015. He currently serves as the Warden at Rogers State Prison since 2017.
Coleman has an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Professional Management Program (PMP), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), and Wardens Pre-Command.
