FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Georgia State Prison (GSP) in Reidsville, Ga., as an apparent suicide.

On September 11 at approximately 4:25 a.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Hugo Tepanca (GDC#1000257991) unresponsive in his cell. The facility’s medical staff responded and administered CPR. At 4:45 a.m., GSP Medical Director pronounced Tepanca deceased. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

Tepanca was sentenced to Life in Hall County for murder.
