Carlotta Ficklin Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Carlotta Ficklin to Statewide Transitional Center Coordinator, effective August 1st. As Coordinator, she will be responsible for overseeing the business operations of 15 transitional centers throughout the state that houses 2,448 minimum security male and female inmates.

“Ficklin has demonstrated great leadership skills in each position she has held,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “I look forward to her continued leadership and guidance in her new role.”

Ficklin began her career with the GDC in 1993 as a Probation Officer in the Clayton Judicial Circuit and in 1996, she transferred to the Augusta Probation Office. In 2002, she joined Augusta Transitional Center and in 2016, she was promoted to Superintendent. Later, she was promoted to the Assistant Statewide Transitional Center Coordinator, where she has served since 2017.

Ficklin holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Wesleyan College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT) and Executive Basic Correctional Office Training. She is also certified by the National Institute of Corrections as an Offender Employment Specialist.
