2017 Innovation/Process Improvement of the Year Award Named

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) honored Tonya Dominy of Central Office Purchasing with the Innovation/Process Improvement of the Year Award at the 14th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on June 19 at GDC headquarters in Forsyth, Ga.
Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 guests. Making the award presentation with Commissioner Greg Dozier was Chief of Staff Timothy C. Ward, Assistant Commissioners Ricky Myrick, Scott Poitevint, Jay Sanders, Randy Sauls, and Assistant Director of Professional Development Tim Williams and Director of Professional Standards Clay Nix.
Dominy was recognized for outstanding service, dedication and professionalism for the successful transition of the Georgia Correctional Industries Purchasing Card program and leading the GDC 2017 P-Card program update.
“Tonya worked tirelessly with representatives throughout the agency on the purchasing (P-Card) program implementation, including all the policies and procedures,” said Assistant Commissioner of Budget and Finance Scott Poitevint. “Her selfless dedication in developing a state level certified P-Card program has meant that GDC and GCI have successfully implemented robust P-Card programs that meet the State’s highest standards.”
The award recognizes innovative employees who have undertaken initiatives that have enhanced the effectiveness or efficiency of GDC and/or Georgia Correctional Industries (GCI). The recipient of this award has made a significant and positive impact on the agency’s operating or business processes.
