New Warden at Telfair State Prison

Nathan Brooks Reassigned
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the reassignment of Nathan Brooks to Warden at Telfair State Prison, effective July 1st. As the Warden, Brooks will be responsible for overseeing 289 staff members and 1373 close security male offenders.
“Brooks has spent 24 years working his way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are confident that he will continue to excel in his new position as Warden at Telfair State Prison.”
Brooks began his career with the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Ware State Prison. During his tenure at Ware, he was promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Chief of Security, and Unit Manager. In 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Warden at Coastal State Prison and later promoted to Warden at Washington State Prison, where he has served since February of this year.
Brooks has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT); Performance Management Program (PMP); Basic Management Training (BMT); Advanced Management Training (AMT); Deputy Warden’s Academy, Wardens Pre-Command and Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI).
