New Deputy Warden of Security at Ware State Prison

Josh Wicker Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Josh Wicker to Deputy Warden of Security at Ware State Prison, effective April 1, 2018. As the Deputy Warden of Security, Wicker will be responsible for overseeing 295 staff members and 1,546 close-security male offenders.
“Wicker has worked his way up through the ranks and has shown an exceptional work ethic.” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We look forward to his leadership and guidance in his new position.”
Wicker began his career with the GDC in 2009 as a Correctional Officer at Dodge State Prison. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2015, he was promoted to Chief of Security at Smith State Prison and in 2016, he was promoted to Unit Manger, where he currently serves.
Wicker has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), and Sergeants Academy.
