Thaddeus Dixon Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Thaddeus Dixon to Southwest Region Principal for Inmate Services Academic Education Unit effective March 1st. Dixon will be responsible for implementing evidence-based education practices within the southwest region facilities.

“Dixon’s vast knowledge and years of experience in education will greatly benefit our offender population,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “I am confident in his ability to expand our education and reentry goals.”

Dixon began his career in 1988 as a Law Enforcement Specialist in the United States Air Force, and formerly worked with GDC as a Correctional Officer. Dixon began his career in education in 1997, as a special education teacher in Decatur, Georgia. During his tenure in the public school system, he served as an Assistant Principal, Regional Coordinator and Principal with the DeKalb County School District. In 2017, Dixon returned to GDC as Education Specialist with the North Region, where he currently serves.

Dixon holds an Education Specialist Degree from Piedmont College, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Georgia College & State University.
