Paul Grieco Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Paul Grieco to Superintendent at Long Unit in Ludowici Ga, effective February 16, 2018. As Superintendent, Grieco will be responsible for overseeing 59 staff members and over 230 minimum security male offenders at the facility.

“Grieco’s knowledge and experience will be an invaluable asset to the staff members and offenders at Long Unit.” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are very proud of his hard work and dedication to the department and know he will excel as Superintendent.”

Grieco began his career with the GDC in 1988 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison. He was promoted to Counselor Associate and later was promoted to Counselor, working mainly in the high max unit. In 1995, he transferred to Ware State Prison as a Counselor and also served as a statewide Hostage Negotiator.  In 2005, he transferred to the Bacon Probation Detention Center as a Counselor. Grieco was then promoted to Assistant Superintendent at the Bacon Probation Detention Center in 2016.

Grieco received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (Justice Administration) through Columbus State University.  He has completed Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training (EBCOT), Basic Management Training, the Professional Management Program (PMP), the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, and Executive Leadership Training.
