New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Johnson State Prison

Lakisha Franklin Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Lakisha Franklin to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Johnson State Prison effective February 16, 2018. As the Deputy Warden, Franklin will be responsible for overseeing 40 staff members and 1600 medium security male offenders.

“Franklin has shown great dedication and leadership in the positions she has held within the department,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “I am confident that her knowledge will positively impact the staff and offenders at Johnson State Prison.”

Franklin began her career with the Department in 2006 as a Counselor at Autry State Prison.  In 2015, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at Pulaski State Prison, where she currently serves.

Franklin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Public Administration from Albany State University.  She has completed the following departmental training: Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT); Basic Management Training (BMT); Advanced Management Training (AMT) and Deputy Warden’s Academy.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
