Myra Orsborn Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Myra Orsborn to Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center effective October 1, 2017. Orsborn will be responsible for the daily operations of the facility and overseeing 41 staff members and 235 minimum security female offenders.

“Myra has served the Georgia Department of Corrections faithfully for 20 years,” said Commissioner Dozier. “During that time, she has acted in many capacities, and we are confident in her ability to effectively lead both staff and residents at Metro Transitional Center.”

Orsborn began her career with GDC in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison (LASP). In 2009, she transferred to the Care & Treatment Department as a General Population Counselor and, in 2015, was promoted to Chief Counselor. In 2016, Orsborn was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at LASP, where she currently serves. 

Myra has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Western Carolina University. She has completed Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), and the Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI).
