New Deputy Warden of Security Named at Augusta State Medical Prison

Tommy Tremble Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Tommy Tremble to Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) effective September 1, 2017. Tremble will be responsible for supervising and managing all security staff and the overall management and operation of the facility housing over 1,326 close security male offenders.
“We are confident in Tommy’s ability to effectively lead security at ASMP,” said Commissioner Dozier. “He has vast knowledge of security policies and procedures, and is a great asset to the GDC team.”
Tremble began his career with the Department in 1991 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison (SP). In 1991, he was promoted to Sergeant at Washington SP, and in 1997, he was promoted to Lieutenant at the same facility. Tremble was promoted to Chief of Security at Hancock SP in 2001, and then to Unit Manager at Hancock SP in 2005, where he currently serves.
Tremble has an Associate degree in Law Enforcement and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Chief of Security Training, Basic Management Training (BMT), the Professional Management Program (PMP), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), and Wardens Pre-Command.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
