New Deputy Warden of Security Named at Autry SP

Timothy Sales Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Timothy Sales to Deputy Warden of Security at Autry State Prison, effective July 16, 2017. As Deputy Warden, Sales will be responsible for supervising and managing 196 staff members and 1,698 of medium security male offenders.
“Timothy has shown great leadership in his past positions,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We look forward to seeing him continue to lead and succeed in his new role as Deputy Warden.”
Sales began his career with the Department in 1998 as a Correctional Officer at Macon State Prison (SP). In 2003, he was promoted to Sergeant at Dooly SP and was then promoted to Lieutenant, in 2006, at Rutledge SP. Sales returned to Macon SP in 2013 to serve as Chief of Security. In 2015, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Macon SP, where he currently serves.
Sales earned an Associate degree in Law Enforcement and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree from Thomas University. Sales has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), the Professional Management Program (PMP), Sergeant’s Academy, and Deputy Warden of Security Academy.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
