Artis Singleton Reassigned   

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the reassignment of Artis Singleton to Private Prison Monitor at Coffee Correctional Facility, effective July 1, 2017. As Private Prison Monitor, Singleton will oversee the facility's operations, to ensure that all contract conditions are met and that the facility operates with a continuous focus on sanitation, safety and security.

“Artis has shown great leadership leading Lee State Prison as it transitioned to Lee Evidence Based Prison,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We know he will continue to offer new and effective ideas to the staff and offenders at Coffee Correctional Facility.” 

Singleton began his career with the Department in 1993 as a Correctional Officer at Valdosta State Prison. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1999 and to Counselor in 2000 at Valdosta State Prison. In 2007, he transferred to Ware State Prison, where he served as Chief Counselor. In 2009, he became the Chief Counselor at Valdosta State Prison. In 2012, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Autry State Prison, and in 2013, he was promoted to Warden at Lee Evidence Based Prison, where he currently serves.

Singleton holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University and a Computerized Accounting Certificate from Valdosta Technical College. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), POST Instructor Training (POST IT), and Wardens Pre-Command.
