New Superintendent at McEver Probation Detention Center

Mistie Jones promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Mistie Jones to Superintendent of McEver Probation Detention Center (PDC), effective November 1, 2016. Jones will be responsible for overseeing 61 staff members and over 250 minimum-security male offenders.
“Mistie has worked her way up the ranks since she joined us in 1994,” said Commissioner Bryson. “She is bringing a wealth of knowledge with her to McEver PDC, and I am confident she will continue to succeed as she takes this next step in her professional career.”
Jones began her career with the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Macon State Prison. During her tenure at Macon State Prison, she served as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Field Training Officer (FTO) Lieutenant, Disciplinary Hearing Officer, and the Officer in Charge (OIC) over the Administrative Segregation Units. In 2006, she was promoted to Chief of Security at Western Pre-Release Center, and in 2011, she was promoted to Unit Manager at Central State Prison. Jones was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Macon State Prison in 2013, where she currently serves.
Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan University, is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Psychology, and has 24 years of service in the Armed Forces. Jones has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Professional Management Program (PMP), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Wardens & Chiefs Pre-Command, and Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy.
