Clinton Perry Jr. promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Clinton Perry, Jr. to Warden at Central State Prison, effective October 1, 2016. As Warden, Perry will be responsible for overseeing approximately 215 staff members and 1,100 medium security male offenders.

“We look forward to seeing Clinton excel in his new position,” said Commissioner Bryson.  “I am confident that his experience will be beneficial to the staff at Central State Prison.”

Perry began his career with the Department in 1993 as a Correctional Officer at Central State Prison.  In 1994, he transferred to Macon State Prison in the same capacity.  During his tenure at Macon, Perry served as Counselor Associate, Counselor, and Senior Counselor.  In 2000, he was promoted to Chief Counselor at Dooly State Prison. Perry was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment, in 2003, at Macon State Prison.  In 2011, Perry was promoted to Superintendent of McEver Probation Detention Center, where he currently serves.

Perry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science, Secondary Education and Psychology from Tuskegee University. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Professional Management Program (PMP), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Hostage Negotiation Training; and Warden’s Pre-Command.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
