Myra Orsborn Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Myra Orsborn to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Lee Arrendale State Prison, effective October 1, 2016. As Deputy Warden, Orsborn will now be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of medical, mental health, education and counseling services of over 1,400 female offenders.

“During her 24 years with the Department, Myra has worked her way up the ranks,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “She has the experience and passion for counseling that is necessary to be an effective Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment.”

Orsborn began her career with the Department in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison (LASP).  In 2009, she transferred to the LASP Care & Treatment Department as a General Population Counselor.  In 2015, Orsborn was promoted to Chief Counselor at LASP, where she currently serves.

Orsborn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University. She has completed the following departmental training: Murray’s departmental training consists of: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), and Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI).

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
