Jodi Ford promoted 

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Jodi Ford to Superintendent of Phillips Transitional Center, effective July 16, 2016. Ford will be responsible for overseeing 24 staff members and 300 minimum security male offenders. 

“Jodi has been as asset to the Department since she joined us in 2002,” said Commissioner Bryson.  “I know that she will continue to excel as she takes the next step in her professional career.” 

Ford began her career with the Department in 2002 as an intern in the Cobb Judicial Circuit. After graduating college, later that year, she was hired as a Probation Officer. In 2005, she was selected as a Specialized Probation Supervision Officer, and two years later she was promoted to Probation Officer III. Ford was promoted, in 2010, to Chief Probation Officer of the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit. In 2014, she was reassigned to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Lee Arrendale State Prison, where she most recently served.

Ford graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She earned her Master’s degree in Leadership from Shorter College. Ford has completed the following departmental training: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Warden and Chief’s Pre-Command, and is a POST Senior Instructor.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
