2014 Customer Service Champions of the Year Named - Julia Adams of Gainesville Probation and Regina Sterling of Johnson State Prison Honored

FORSYTH, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) honored PO Julia Adams of the Gainesville Probation Office and Regina Sterling of Johnson State Prison as Customer Service Champions of the Year at the 11th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on July 7 at State Offices South at Tift College in Forsyth, Ga.

“Both Julia’s and Regina’s positive attitudes while carrying out the agency’s mission are something we as an agency should work to possess,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “For their dedication to helping others, I am honored to recognize each of them with the title of Customer Service Champion.”

The Customer Service Champion Award is presented to employees who actively develop a customer service culture, use the One Team approach, and listen and honor commitments made to customers.

Julia served with the Georgia Department of Corrections until the transfer of Probation Operations and personnel to the new Department of Community Supervision on July 1, 2015.  Officer Adams served as a member of the Court Team and as the Probation Officer Sentencing Specialist for the circuit.  Well respected by the Judges, her co-workers, she handled all aspects of her duties with professionalism and consideration for all parties involved, and is known for her calm demeanor, no matter how hectic the situation.

Regina is a Personnel Tech and has been with the Johnson State Prison since February 16, 1999. She began her career as a Clerk 2 and was later promoted to a Personnel Tech as a result of her faithfulness and dedication. Officer Sterling never hesitates to go the extra mile when dealing with employees, and is committed to the goals and mission of the department.

Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 guests.  Making the award presentation with Commissioner Homer Bryson were Assistant Commissioner of Administration & Finance Scott Poitevint, Assistant Commissioner of Facilities Division Timothy C. Ward, and Board of Corrections Chair Rose Williams.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
