Commissioner Names New Manager of Offender Administration

Kenneth Mantle Appointed
Forsyth, GA. — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Kenneth Mantle as Manager of Offender Administration effective December 1, 2014. As Manager of the Offender Administration Unit, Mantle will be responsible for the supervision of sentence processing, court production, information services, offender classification and releases, interstate detainers, and probation center referrals.
“Kenneth is a consummate professional with extensive knowledge of the day-to-day operations of the agency as a whole,” said Commissioner Owens. “I am confident that he will excel within his new role and will be of great benefit to the staff and operations of the Offender Administration Unit.”
Mantle began his career with the Department in 2010 as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner, where he most recently served. Prior to joining the Department, he served as a Parole Officer with the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles from 2008 to 2010. Mantle served in the 10th Security Forces with the United States Air Force from 2000-2004 and currently serves in the Georgia Air National Guard.
Mantle earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Georgia (UNG) and is currently pursing his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from UNG. He has completed Peace Officer Standards Training, Instructor Training, Firearms Instructor Training, and Corrections Leadership Institute.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners
and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
