Belinda Davis Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. — Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Belinda Davis as Field Operations Manager of the Southeast Area, effective November 1, 2014. As Field Operations Manager, Davis will provide operational guidance, coaching and mentoring to the Wardens and Superintendents under her jurisdiction.

“Belinda is an exceptional leader and dedicated employee,” said Commissioner Brian Owens.  “Her wealth of knowledge and experience will greatly benefit the Southeast area.”

Davis began her career with the Department in 1991 as an Accounting Technician at Burruss Correctional Training Center (CTC). In 1997, Davis was promoted to Business Manager of Burruss CTC, and later that year she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Administration at Metro State Prison (SP). In 2003, Davis transferred to Georgia Diagnostic & Classification Prison to serve as the Deputy Warden of Administration. In 2005, Davis was promoted to Superintendent at McEver Probation Detention Center. In 2008, she was promoted to Warden of Dooly State Prison. In 2010, Davis was reassigned to Warden of Metro SP. Following the closure of Metro SP in 2011, Davis served as Warden of Pulaski State Prison. In 2014, Davis was reassigned to Warden of Central State Prison, where she most recently served.

Davis earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mercer University, a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Columbus State University, and a Master’s of Accounting & Financial Management degree from DeVry University. Davis has completed Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Warden’s Pre-Command, and GA Law Enforcement Command College.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
