New Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Named at Baldwin State Prison

Forsyth —Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Tracey Lumpkin to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Baldwin State Prison effective October 1, 2014. Formally Chief Counselor at Baldwin State Prison, Lumpkin will now be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of medical, mental health, education and counseling services of 1,021 close security male inmates at the facility located in Hardwick, Ga.
“Tracey has dedicated over 20 years of faithful service to the Department,” said Commissioner Brian Owens. “She will continue to bring a wealth of knowledge that will greatly benefit the staff and inmates at Baldwin State Prison.”
Lumpkin began her career with the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Rivers State Prison. In 1999, she was promoted to Counselor and worked at this capacity at Men’s State Prison, Scott State Prison and Johnson State Prison. In 2012, Lumpkin was promoted to Chief Counselor at Johnson State Prison. In 2014, Lumpkin transferred to Baldwin State Prison, serving as Chief Counselor until July 2014, when Lumpkin became the Acting Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment.
Lumpkin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University. During her time with the Department she has completed the following training courses; Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT); Correctional Leadership Institute (CLI); Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy; Performance Management Program (PMP); Sex Offender Management Training; and Professionalism of Women in Facilities Training
