Belinda Davis Reassigned

FORSYTH, Ga. — Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the reassignment of Belinda Davis as Warden of Central State Prison effective July 1, 2014. The facility is located in Macon, Georgia. The former Warden of Pulaski State Prison will now be responsible for overseeing 249 staff members and 1,112 medium security male inmates at Central State Prison.

“Belinda brings over 20 years of administrative knowledge to Central State Prison,” said Commissioner Brian Owens. “We are confident her experience will benefit the staff and inmates.”

Davis joined the Department of Corrections in 1991 as an Accounting Technician at Burruss Correctional Training Center.  In 1997, Davis transferred to Metro State Prison where she served as Business Manager until she was promoted in November to Deputy Warden of Administration. In 2004, she transferred to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison to serve in the same capacity. Davis was promoted in 2006, to Superintendent of McEver Probation Detention Center. She was then promoted to Warden in 2008 at Dooly State Prison. In 2010, Davis transferred to Metro State Prison serving as Warden. At the closure of Metro State Prison in 2011, Davis was reassigned to Warden of Pulaski State Prison, where she most recently served.

Davis earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Mercer University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. During her time with the Department, she has completed Basic Management Training, Warden’s Pre-Command Course, Corrections Leadership Institute, Senior Leadership Off-Site Training, Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, and Four Disciplines of Execution Training Program.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers.  It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
