New Deputy Warden of Administration Named

Phillip Glenn Promoted
Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Phillip Glenn to Deputy Warden of Administration at Smith State Prison effective February 16, 2014. As Deputy Warden, Glenn is responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the facility housing 1,541 close security male inmates located in Glenville.
"Phillip has dedicated over 16 years of faithful service to the Department," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "He will bring a wealth of knowledge that will greatly benefit the staff and inmates at Smith State Prison."
Glenn began his career with the Department in 1998 as a Craftsman at Valdosta State Prison. In 2004, he was promoted to Trades Supervisor at Coastal State Prison. In 2011, Glenn was promoted to Maintenance Engineer at Smith State Prison, where he most recently served.
While with the Department, Glenn has completed the following training: Basic Management Training; Locksmith Training; Purchasing Card Training; and E-Procurement Training.
In addition to his service to the Department, Glenn has been a volunteer with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service since 1994.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
