New Deputy Warden of Administration Named

Shirley Kilgore Promoted
Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Shirley Kilgore to Deputy Warden of Administration at Georgia State Prison effective November 16, 2013. As Deputy Warden, Kilgore is responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the facility housing 1,488 special mission male inmates located in Reidsville.
"Shirley has dedicated over 13 years of faithful service to the Department," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "She will bring a wealth of knowledge that will greatly benefit the staff and inmates at Georgia State Prison."
Kilgore began her career with the Department in 2000 as a Secretary at Telfair State Prison. She was promoted to an Accounting Paraprofessional at Central Probation Detention Center in 2004. She transferred, in 2010, to Rogers State Prison and served as a Paraprofessional. In 2012, she was promoted to Business Manager of Georgia State Prison, where she most recently served.
Kilgore received an Associates degree in Business Administration from Brewton-Parker College. Kilgore has also completed Basic Management Training.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
