FORSYTH, Ga.– Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections’ (GDC) Office of Professional Standards are conducting an investigation into the death of Telfair State Prison inmate Daniel Martinez (GDC #1001128214) on July 27, as a suspected homicide.

Agents have reason to believe Martinez died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation involving another inmate. Inmate Martinez was pronounced deceased at the facility at 11:15 p.m. by the Telfair County Coroner.

Martinez was sentenced in 2012 in Clayton County, for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault, and had a maximum release date of 2022.
