Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 880 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On November 3, a GDC Special Agent arrested Calhoun State Prison Correctional Officer Quenton Alston after it was discovered that he was helping to facilitate the introduction of contraband inside the facility. Officer Alston was observed on video assisting inmates to exit their cells during a lock down and retrieve contraband. He was charged with the following: Bribery, Items Prohibited for Possession by Inmates, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Violation of the Street Gang Act, Aiding or Permitting Another to Escape, and Violation of Oath of Office.

On November 5, Dodge State Prison Correctional Officer Fred Arceneaux was arrested by Dodge County Sheriff's Department and charged with Introduction of Contraband Behind Guard Lines and Violation of Oath by a Public Officer. During shift briefing, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from Officer Arceneaux’s person. Officer Arceneaux consented to a search of his person and the following contraband was discovered: 57 grams of methamphetamine, 223 grams of marijuana and 18 cigarettes.   

On November 6, Dooly State Prison Officer Kenterrica Jackson was unable to clear the metal detector at the front entry building. The Portal Sergeant began to search Officer Jackson when a pack of rolling papers fell from her person. Officer Jackson attempted to run and two bundles wrapped in duct tape fell from her person. The bundles contained 363 grams of tobacco. Dooly County Sheriff Office arrested Officer Jackson.
