Contraband arrests at Autry State Prison and Hancock State Prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1312 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On October 29 at Autry State Prison, security staff noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the Food Service Supervisor as she was entering the facility’s front bunker. Staff member Arkela Keaton admitted to bringing two clear plastic bundles of marijuana. Keaton was arrested by Mitchell County Sheriff's Office and transported to Mitchell County Jail.
On October 29 at Hancock State Prison, a Portal Sergeant observed an x-ray tray with unidentified contraband wrapped in bundles with black tape. The tray belonged to Officer Yazmeen Wilson. Wilson was then arrested by Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
