New Developmental Assignment in Facilities Operations

Betty Bailey Dean Assigned
Forsyth — Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the assignment of Betty Bailey Dean for Developmental Assignment in Facilities Operations effective September 1, 2013. On Developmental Assignment Dean will serve as the Tier Segregation Manager/Coordinator assisting with training and implementation of the Tier Segregation Management System at all Level 5 facilities.
"Betty has worked her way through the ranks since joining the Department in 1993," said Commissioner Owens. "I am confident that her experience will be beneficial to the staff here at Central Office."
Dean began her career with the Department in 1993 as a Counselor at Hays State Prison. In 1994, she was promoted to Senior Counselor at the facility. Dean was promoted in 1999 to Chief Counselor at Hays State Prison. In 2000, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, where she most currently served. Prior to her career with the Department, Dean served the Department of Family and Children's Services for 12 years. Dean received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Alabama A&M University and a Master's degree in Counseling from Jacksonville State University. She has completed Basic Management Training, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Pre-Command, Corrections Leadership Institute and Deputy Wardens of Care and Treatment Academy.
