Inmate Death Under Investigation

FORSYTH, Ga. – Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections’ (GDC) Office of Professional Standards are investigating the death of an inmate at Baldwin State Prison in Hardwick, Ga., as a suspected homicide.
Agents have reason to believe offender Joshua Williams (GDC#1002039975) died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation involving another inmate on July 3. Emergency Medical personnel responded and life saving measures were performed. Williams was pronounced deceased at a local hospital at approximately 3:30 a.m., July 3. The GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.
Williams was sentenced to 25 years in 2017, in Fulton County for Rape and Armed Robbery.
