New Director of Georgia Corrections Academy Named

Antonnio Printup Appointed
FORSYTH, Ga - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Antonnio Printup as Director of Georgia Corrections Academy effective July 16, 2013. In this capacity, Printup will provide management support of a centralized training operation by managing a variety of statewide training functions including training for the Corrections, Probation, Administration and Operations, Planning and Training divisions.
"Antonnio has been committed to carrying out the Department's mission since 2004," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "I look forward to his new leadership position and I am confident that he will continue to excel within the agency."
Printup began his career with the Department in 2004 as a Probation Officer in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit and was promoted in 2005 as a Sex Offender Officer. In 2007, Printup became a POST Certified Instructor for the Metro Atlanta and Northwest Georgia areas. He was promoted to Program Development Consultant of the Sex Offender Administrative Unit in 2009. Printup transferred to the GDC Fugitive Squad in 2011 where he most recently served as a Criminal Investigator.
Printup received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Fort Valley State University and a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
