Contraband Arrests at Wilcox and Washington State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,100 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the stat

On August 26 at Wilcox State Prison, while conducting a routine vehicle search, the canine unit discovered contraband in a vehicle belonging to Officer Lloyd Thomas. The contraband consisted of 1 loaded pistol, 1 loaded rifle, a vacuum sealed bag of tobacco and marijuana residue. Officer Thomas was arrested by Abbeville Police Department. 

On August 25 at Washington State Prison, 4 civilians were arrested by GDC Office of Professional Standards and Davisboro Police department for having contraband, which consisted of 226 grams of tobacco, 1 cell phone, 1 charger, 1 pack of rolling paper and 1 cigarette lighter.
