Contraband Arrests at Rogers and Smith State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 902 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On December 15, a part-time Tattnall County Police Sergeant and a GDC Investigator responded to a call pertaining to a contraband drop at Walker Nursery, a Rogers State Prison detail site. The response and investigation resulted in the arrest of civilians Alisha Price, Jennifer Davis, and Wesley Walker by Tattnall County Sheriff Office. The contraband confiscated from the detail site was wrapped in camouflage electrical tape and was found under a dumpster. The contraband included 15 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of Oxycontin, 13 grams of oxycodon, less than a gram of marijuana, and less than a gram of crack.
On December 17, at Smith State Prison, Visitor Carolyn Scott was arrested by Tattnall County Sheriff Office after a canine search of her vehicle detected 0.9 ounces of marijuana in the center console.
