Contraband Arrest at Ware State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,247 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On June 17 at Ware State Prison, security staff noticed a vehicle driving in and out of the facility parking lot and notified the Ware County Sheriff’s Office. During a traffic stop, the sheriff’s department discovered vacuum sealed packages of methamphetamine, an ounce of marijuana, and unknown amount of tobacco, cell phones, chargers, Bugler paper and a vacuum seal machine. Civilians Anthony Moore, Dean Wanliss and Jaima Sheriff were arrested by the Ware County Sheriff’s Office.
