Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,433 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On August 16 at Autry State Prison, an individual was discovered behind the facility with contraband wrapped in black tape. The individual along with those that dropped him off were arrested and transported to Mitchell County Jail.
On August 14 at Autry State Prison, a routine traffic stop in front of the facility found backpacks containing unknown contraband wrapped in black tape. Three civilians were placed under arrest by Mitchell County Sheriff's Office.
On August 13 at Telfair State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted and a search recovered a drone and the following contraband: tobacco, marijuana, cellphones, ecstasy pills and xanax. The occupants of the vehicle were Civilian Aaliyah Green, Orlando Williams and Darian Garrott.
On August 12 at Baldwin State Prison, Officer Summer Huggins was placed under arrest by Milledgeville Police Department.
On August 11 at Baldwin State Prison, a civilian was apprehended near the facility’s wood line. Amlin Carter was found with a package wrapped in black electrical tape. Civilian Carter was transported to Baldwin County Jail.
