Contraband Arrest at Calhoun State Prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 872 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On October 16, Special Operations conducted vehicle searches at Calhoun State Prison. The canine unit received a hit from their K9 drug dog on Officer Torrey Poindexter’s vehicle. Pointexter’s vehicle was searched and 2 grams of marijuana were discovered. Poindexter consented to a search of his person, and no other contraband was discovered. Poindexter was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody.
