New Superintendent at Turner Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center

Benjie Nobles Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. -- Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Benjie Nobles, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Autry State Prison, to Superintendent at Turner Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center (RSAT), effective August 1, 2018. As Superintendent, Nobles will direct the administration and management of Turner RSAT, as well as oversee the business operations and security functions of the facility. He will also oversee approximately 194 probationers and 47 staff members.

 “Over the past 16 years, Mr. Nobles has shown great integrity and leadership,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are confident that his skills and experience will greatly benefit the facility.”

Nobles began his career with the GDC in 2002 as a Counselor at Autry State Prison, and was later promoted to Chief Counselor in 2006. He became a Behavioral Specialist/GP Counselor in 2010 at the Bainbridge Probation Substance Abuse Treatment Center, and was then promoted in 2012 to Chief Counselor at Lee State Prison. Later, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Autry State Prison, where he has served since August 2013.

Nobles earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Corrections from Albany State University. He received a certification in Addictions Counseling from Darton College and has completed Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, the Corrections Leadership Institute, the Deputy Wardens of Care and Treatment Academy, Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, and Warden’s Pre-Command. Nobles is currently enrolled in the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Certified Public Manager Program, as well as Prison Fellowship International’s Warden’s exchange and is a member of the Southern States Correctional Association.
