Sabrina Garror promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Sabrina Garror to Superintendent of Phillips Transitional Center (TC) effective July 16, 2017. Garror will be responsible for overseeing 24 staff members and 300 minimum-security male detainees at the facility located in Buford, Ga.

“Sabrina has served the department faithfully for 27 years,” said Commissioner Dozier. “She will be a valuable addition to the staff and residents at Phillips TC.”

Garror began her career with the Department in 1990 as a Correctional Officer at Phillips State Prison (SP). While at Phillips State Prison, she has served as Associate Counselor, Counselor, Senior Counselor, and Chief Counselor.  In 2012, Garror was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Phillips SP, where she currently serves. 

Garror holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Alabama State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling Studies from Capella University. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, and Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI).

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
