New Deputy Warden of Security at Johnson State Prison

Travis Prosser Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Travis Prosser to Deputy Warden of Security at Johnson State Prison (SP) effective February 1, 2022. As deputy warden of security, Prosser will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and over 1,400 medium-security male offenders.
“Prosser has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in each position he has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident he will continue to excel as he takes the next step in his professional career at Johnson SP.”
Prosser began his career with the GDC in 2004 as a Correctional Officer at Rivers SP. In 2008, he transitioned to Baldwin SP as a Correctional Officer, and then transferred to Washington SP as a CERT Officer in 2011. He was promoted to Sergeant at Baldwin SP in 2012, and Lieutenant in 2014. In 2020, he was promoted to Captain at Johnson SP, and in 2021, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he currently serves.
Prosser obtained an associates degree from Georgia Military College. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Correctional Emergency Response Training, Sergeants Academy, Fire Inspector Training, and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
