Valderine Jackson Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Valderine Jackson to deputy warden of security at Georgia State Prison (SP), effective March 16, 2019. In this role, Jackson will be responsible for overseeing approximately 388 security staff members and 1,374 close security male offenders at the facility.

“Jackson has worked her way up through the ranks and gained tools to help her be a successful leader within this department,” Ward said. “Her training and experience will serve her well in this new position.”

Jackson began her career with the department in 1992 as a correctional officer I at Georgia SP.  During her tenure at Georgia SP, she served as a correctional officer I, correctional officer II, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, major and also served on the tactical squad.  Currently, Jackson is serving as  a Unit Manger at Georgia SP.      

Jackson is currently enrolled at Southeastern Technical College and pursuing a degree in criminal justice.  She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Tactical SQUAD Basic, Basic Management Training, The Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, and Advanced Management Training.  Jackson is also a veteran of the United States Army.
