FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Valdosta State Prison in Valdosta, Ga., as a suspected homicide.

Agents have reason to believe offender Elander Johnson (GDC#1000688020) died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation involving another inmate on July 25.  He was pronounced deceased at 6:12 p.m. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

Johnson was sentenced to serve 25 years in 2017, in Whitfield County for Armed Robbery.
