Tamika Harvey Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tamika Harvey to Superintendent at Clayton Transitional Center (TC) effective April 1, 2022. As Superintendent, Harvey will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and approximately 376 minimum-security male residents.

“Harvey has shown exception leadership qualities in each position she has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident her wide range of correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and residents at Clayton TC.”

Harvey began her career with the GDC in 2003 as a Correctional Officer at J.C. Larmore Probation Detention Center. In 2005, she was promoted to Probation Officer in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. During her tenure as a Probation Officer, Harvey was promoted to Sex Offender Probation Officer II, Field Training Officer, and Community Service Impact Task Force Officer. In 2011, she was promoted to Internal Affairs Investigator in the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) Unit.  During her tenure with OPS, she was promoted through the ranks of Criminal Investigator I, Criminal Investigator II and Criminal Investigator III. In 2019, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison where she currently serves. 

Harvey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Probation Officer Training, Basic Law Enforcement Training (Mandate), Georgia Bureau of Investigation Training, POST Instructor Training, Basic Management Training, Deputy Warden’s Academy, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
