Casey Felton Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Casey Felton to Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips State Prison (SP) effective May 1, 2019.  As Deputy Warden of Security, Felton will be responsible for overseeing 285 security staff and 815special mission medium security male offenders. 

“Felton’s twenty-five years of correctional experience and his security background will serve him well in his new role,” Ward said. “We are thankful for his dedication and look forward to his continued success with the agency.”

Felton began his career with the GDC in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Dooly SP and also served on the Tactical Squad.  Felton was promoted to Sergeant at Phillips SP in 1999 and transferred to Rockdale Dekalb Probation Detention Center in 2004.  He was promoted to Lieutenant at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in 2008 and to Captain in 2011.  Felton was promoted to Unit Manager in 2013, where he currently serves.     

Felton received his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University.  He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Tactical Squad Training, Sergeants Academy, Professional Management Training, Effective Communication, Supervision I, II & II, Management I, II & II, Basic Management and Advanced Management Training.
