MISSION:
Probation Detention Centers provide short-term confinement of probationers in a secure, safe, and work-oriented environment. A probation detention center (PDC) is a minimum security facility for confining probationers, generally for 60 to 120 days.
HOUSING:
Four open dormitories with bunk beds.
WORK DETAILS:
•Probationers must work on a detail five days a week: food service, building grounds maintenance, janitorial, laundry, maintenance, sanitation duties, counselor's aide, teacher's aide, and librarians.
•Community and work details: Under supervision, low-security offenders build, refurbish, and maintain prison and civic buildings, perform road work, and clean public buildings and schools. The Women's PDC has six community work details: Tattnall High School, Evans County, the City of Lyons, the City of Reidsville, the City of Pembroke, and Bryan County.
PROGRAMS:
- Education: General Education Diploma, Adult Basic Education, Literacy/Remedial Reading, Pathway to Home through Savannah Technical College
- Counseling: Motivation for Change, substance use counseling- AA/NA, Life Skills, Job Readiness, Group Counseling- Mental Health Counseling, Anger management, Parenting Class and Personal Health
- Recreation: General Recreation
- Religious Activities: Various Worship Services And Bible Study
DIRECTIONS:
Take I-75S through Macon. From Macon take I-16S for approximately 12 miles to Exit #116. Women's Probation Detention Center is located 9.3 miles South of Exit 116 on Hwy 301 South on the left.
