New Deputy Warden of Security at Dooly State Prison

Russell Hollman Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Interim Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Russell Hollman to deputy warden of security at Dooly State Prison (SP) effective February 16, 2019. As deputy warden of security, Hollman will share responsibility for supervising and managing approximately 148 security staff members and 1,700 medium security male offenders.

“Hollman has gone above and beyond during his 25 years of dedicated service with the department,” Ward said. “We are confident that his knowledge and leadership will serve him well in his new role.”

Hollman joined GDC in 1994 as a correctional officer at Calhoun SP. During his tenure at Calhoun SP, Hollman served in a variety of roles: sergeant, lieutenant, counselor and unit manager.  He served on the Tactical squad as a member, assistant commander and commander.  In 2015, Hollman was promoted to Unit Manager at Calhoun SP, where he currently serves.

Hollman received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Columbus State University.  He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training and the Professional Management Program.

Hollman is a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard, where he served in the Gulf War, 2002 Operation Sky Guard and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
